27th Parliamentary-Intelligence Security Forum – Israel’s 8 Fronts of War Since Oct. 7th
Hon. Eliav Benjamin expressed profound gratitude for international partnerships, particularly highlighting the steadfast support of the United States over Israel’s 76-year history and especially since the terrorist attacks on October 7th of the previous year. He detailed Israel’s ongoing security challenges, emphasizing the multiple simultaneous fronts the country faces:
- Gaza and Hamas: Israel continues efforts to rescue hostages and dismantle Hamas’ capabilities to prevent future attacks, stressing that civilians in Gaza are not the target.
- Lebanon and Hezbollah: Northern front threats from Hezbollah and pressure on Iran are addressed, highlighting Israel’s military responses and efforts to degrade Iranian influence.
- Syria: Monitoring and responding to ongoing conflict and Iranian-backed activities.
- Yemen: Hostile actions by Houthi forces continue to target Israel.
- Iraq: Iranian-supported militias launch daily attacks, further complicating regional security.
- West Bank: Security operations continue against local threats.
- International institutions: Israel faces biased treatment in multilateral bodies like the UN, ICC, and ICJ, which he described as applying double standards against Israel while failing to address atrocities elsewhere.
- Global anti-Semitism: He emphasized the alarming rise of anti-Semitism worldwide, advocating for adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition to combat hate effectively.
He framed Israel’s actions as part of a broader fight against terrorism and evil, aiming to secure both national and global safety. He stressed Israel’s commitment to peace, security, and technological and cultural advancement, while calling for international collaboration to create a safer, more stable world.
He concluded by thanking attendees for their engagement and participation in fostering international cooperation, emphasizing the shared responsibility to combat terrorism, support Israel, and promote global stability.
